And we are off to a thundering start.

More than a few of you that have a keen interest in this project have heard the phrase "it takes a village." This can be applied to many things, whether it be raising a child, rebuilding a car, on the job training, or starting a project.

With that sentiment expressed, please note that this project would not be able to be at the point that it is, without the helpful hand of my favorite gun forum.

The moderators have been extremely kind letting me post blogspam asking for the community's involvement in this project. Many of your average gunnitor have called their respective rent ranges trying to help locate a spot for this project to branch from.

One specific gunnitor, Robert, has called Coonan himself, and told them about the project. Nothing is "in writing" at the moment, but they would like to join in on the fun. Until a final word from them, I will leave it at this. Coonan is willing to help maintain the pistol, to retain functionality, for this projects duration.

My local gun shop (hereby referred to as LGS) has been contacted. They have explained what a pain in the ass transfers are for a single firearm, but are willing to work with me on transfer fees, storage, and shipping. Hey, no one rides for free right? The Gun Doctor is kind enough to deal with the pain in the ass, but we have yet to speak face to face about the level of involvement they wish to endure.

A "gunnit" meetup is in the works at the moment. It will be finalized tomorrow. A "gunnitor" is paying for a group to meetup and share a kindred spirit if you will. Well, to share some firearms anyways. This meetup is going to be held at http://tacticalfirearms.us/ and the traveling Coonan will be on loan for the occasion. I have been conversing with the staff and making sure that this is a kosher deal for all parties involved. This is your chance to be one of the first to donate and kick this project off.

Also, I apologize, but I was mistaken in my original post. There are some occasions where I will have to handle cash. This is going to be one of them. I will set up an account with my local bank, and transfer all proceeds to the charity. The fee for running the coonan will be $5 PER MAGAZINE. Provide your own ammunition. I am sorry if this seems steep but keep in mind this is for charity. If it was at a rental range the pistol fee would be $20. With as many people predicted to show up, its cheaper for you.

I am also waiting on contact from a well known firearms blog, which will hopefully spur this venture into light. Thank you Gunnit, Gunnit mods, readers, and the like for listening and following this story.

I wish all of you the best. Be safe out there.
